Conducted by Justus Rozemond with top soloist Bridget Douglas
Sunday 11 November 2018, 2.30pm, Baycourt, Tauranga
There’s something for everyone in our final concert of 2018. Music ranging from late 18th century classical up to the 1920s encompasses a range of styles and sounds from Mozart and Beethoven to Nielsen and Kodály.
Bridget Douglas is principal flute of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and also teaches at the NZ School of Music, Victoria University. Bridget performs regularly with leading New Zealand musicians in solo and chamber music concerts. We were very lucky to have her come along to a rehearsal a year or so ago and coach us in orchestral musicianship and general technique. We are proud to have the opportunity to play with her.
Bridget joins us in a lively, quirky concerto – top of the standard repertoire for flute
- Carl Nielsen – Concerto for Flute
Also on the programme:
- Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 – traditional in form but innovative for the times, this early work introduced Beethoven’s talents to the world
- Mozart’s Overture Cosi fan Tutte – 18th century fun and frivolity
- Kodaly – Summer Evening. An idyllic conclusion to our concert and our 2018 season.
