We were so looking forward to entertaining a big audience at Holy Trinity Church for our August concert. However, because Level 2 Covid restrictions remain in place, we have reluctantly made the hard decision to cancel.
This has been a very difficult time for Bay of Plenty Symphonia – after weeks of rehearsals with our Guest Conductor, Tim Carpenter, and our special trombone soloist, Joe Thomas, we are hugely disappointed not to be presenting this concert. It was a wonderful programme which we have thoroughly enjoyed preparing, and we are sure our audience would have loved it. We know they will be equally disappointed with the cancellation.
A reminder of the programme that we have missed out on performing:
- Kenneth Young – Douce Tristesse
- Grøndahl – Trombone Concerto
- Sibelius – Kuolema Suite: Valse Triste, Scene with Cranes, Canzonetta, Valse Romantique
- Poulenc – Sinfonietta
If you don’t know these pieces do seek them out and have a listen. Thanks to Justus, our Music Director, for introducing much of the programme to our orchestra players for the first time.
We would like to sincerely thank TECT, Tauranga City Council and Pub Charity for their support of this concert and for helping towards the costs that we have already incurred.
