Conducted by Justus Rozemond with guest soloist Yoshiko Tsuruta
Saturday, 16th November; venue to be confirmed
We wind up the year with a varied concert with wide appeal – stunning marimba soloist Yoshiko Tsuruta returns in Séjourné’s Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra. Also featuring works by ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, and easy on the ear pieces by Dvořák and Ravel for the more classically minded.
Starting at the age of 9, Yoshiko learned marimba in Japan. She graduated from the New Zealand School of Music in music performance and later moved to Austria to complete her Master’s Degree. Yoshiko has won many prizes in New Zealand and internationally for her playing, including the national Concerto Competition. She has performed marimba concertos with various NZ orchestras, including the Castelnuovo-Tedesco with BOP Symphonia in 2014. She gave the world premier performance of Gareth Farr’s Marimba Concerto with Opus Orchestra in 2018. Her performances are a musical and visual delight!
