2021 concert programme announced

After a disappointing year with several Covid cancellations, Bay of Plenty Symphonia are hoping to be luckier with our concerts in 2021! Our exciting programme is already mapped out, with our Music Director, Justus Rozemond conducting.

We begin the year with a strings-only programme ‘Four Seasons‘, featuring Vivaldi’s famous The Four Seasons and Piazolla’s interpretation of the seasons, Buenos Aires-style. (February 13th, Tauranga & February 14th, Rotorua)

On 4 April we will be a part of the Tauranga National Jazz Festival with ‘Symphony of Jazz’ – the programme we were supposed to do in 2020 – featuring Gershwin’s brilliant Rhapsody in Blue.

Local trombonist Joe Thomas joins us in Grøndahl’s beautiful Trombone Concerto on June 19th, a concert with a triumphant second half – Beethoven’s Symphony No.3 ‘Eroica’.

August 21st sees the return of our Rising Stars Competition finals concert, showcasing our amazing young up-and-coming local musicians.

We end the year on November 21st with Sibelius’s much-loved, passionate Violin Concerto with soloist Martin Riseley.

So there’s a lot to look forward to and we would love for you to join us! Click here for more detailed programme information.
